As small poithermic animals, insects are very sensitive to temperature changes, and the temperature stress response is one of the most conservative mechanisms to resist the extreme environment. Epigenetics provides a faster response mechanism to temperature stress for insects. Different from classical genetics, epigenetics responds to environmental changes and has a rapid and lasting effect on gene expression without changing DNA sequence. Epigenetic regulation includes DNA methylation, histone modification, chromatin remodeling, and regulation of non-coding RNA, etc. This paper mainly describes the application and research progress of the above four aspects in insect response to temperature stress, so as to explore the adaptability of insects to temperature change. %U http://www.zgswfz.com.cn/EN/10.16409/j.cnki.2095-039x.2021.01.010
