Abstract: Four species of citrus scale insects: Aonidiella aurantii, Abgrallaspis cyanophy11is, Chrysomphalus aonidum, and c. bifasciata [Hom.:Diaspididae] were successfully propagated on potato tubers and pumpkin. The potato tubers were pretreated with 60co (10,000-15,000 units) to inhibit their shooting. The pumpkins (Chaozhou variety) were pretreated with a fungicide, Cercobin-M at 200X solution to prolong their storage time, A better growth and development of A. aurantii was obtained on the pumpkin than that on the potato tubers. Another diaspid scale Parlatona zizyphus,failed to develop on the two host plants.
