Abstract: The effect of supplementary food on the longevity of female and male adults of Megastigmus Sabinae was investigated by feeding the wasps with water, sucrose solution and honey solution. The results showed that the males lived shorter than the females under the three feeding treatments, and the longevity of females and males fed with water differed significantly. The females fed with sucrose solution and honey solution lived 18 days and 14 days, both significantly different from that of the wasps fed with water. The survival of the wasps showed no difference between the wasps individually reared and group reared. The results are of help for the mass rearing of M. sabinae and for future study of the biological characteristics and behavior of M. sabinae.

Key words: Megastigmus sabinae, supplementary foods, lifetime
