Abstract: By using a suction sampler, irrigated rice arthropod community, sorted into 4 guilds, namely neutral insects, predators, parasitoids and pest insects was investigated systematically in IPM rice area in Dasha Town, Sihui County, Guangdong Province. The results showed that the neutral insects in early and late rice fields made up 16.98% and 6.82% of the total rice arthropod species, respectively; and the ratio in the total rice arthropod individuals in early and late rice field was 73.61% and 37 94%, respectively. There was a great number of neutral insects and only a few pest insects at rice earlier stage. But the sub-community of predators grew faster than that of pest insects mainly by using neutral insects as preys.
