Abstract: In 2013, significant differences in the population abundance of Haritalodes derogata (Fabricius) larvae on Althaea rosea (L.) Cavan., Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench and cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) were observed. Systematically investigation on the population abundance of H. derogata larvae on 4 Malvaceae plant species was conducted in the field in 2014. Population abundance of H. derogata larvae was significantly higher on Abutilon theophrasti Medic., A. rosea and A. esculentus than that on cotton, which were (6.26·1.16), (7.95·0.52), (5.42·0.54) and (0.10·0.10)/m2, respectively. This demonstrates that A. theophrasti, A. rosea and A. esculentus are preferred by H. derogata and can be used as trap crops of H. derogata adults in cotton fields.
