Abstract: Endophytic fungi are generally found in healthy plant tissues or organs. Some of them can promote plant growth through their own metabolites or signal transduction, and enhance the host plants resistance to diseases, insects, stress and so on. The present experiment aimed to study the effects of endophytic fungi YC1, GX5, YB8 and YB15 on the growth and reproduction of Rhopalosiphum maidis. Survival and reproduction of R. maidis fed on corn treated with different fungal strains and feeding preference of R. maidis to corn inoculated with different strains were determined under laboratory conditions. The results showed that all the fungis significantly reduced reproduction periods of R. maidis, and the number of nympns per aphid, net reproductive rate, mean generation time, intrinsic rate of increase and finite rate of increase of R. maidis were redused, but the difference was not significant. The proportions of R. maidis preferring corn treated with YC1, GX5, YB8 and YB15 were 17.52%, 19.02%, 19.34% and 18.84%, respectively, which were all significantly lower than preference for the control group (25.28%). The results showed that these four endophytic fungi had adverse effects on the growth, reproduction and feeding preference of R. maidis.
