Abstract: Insect pathogenic viruses have characteristics such as high insecticidal activity, low risk of pest resistance development, and the ability to cause epidemics in pest populations, making them a distinctive class of biological pesticides. This paper discusses several aspects, including the exploration of insect pathogenic virus resources, mechanism of insecticidal action of baculoviruses and ascoviruses, and development and prospects of virus-based insecticides, aiming to provide reference and theoretical support for the research and development of this class of insecticides.

Key words: virus-based insecticides, resource exploration, insecticidal mechanism, research and development
