Abstract: When the pollen of 10 plant species was fed to A. fallacis in the laboratory, four of which, namely Juglans regia, Robinia pseudoacacia, Chaenomeles speciosa and Mammillaria sp., supported the development and reproduction of the predator, while two species, Jasminum nudiflorum and Brassica oleracea, supported only the complete development. Surface structure of the pollen grains was found to be one of the major factors affecting the feeding behavior of the predator. Some pollen grains with spiny covering were unfavorable to the predator's feeding. The hatchability and nymph survival rate on peach pollen were 98.2% and 27.6% when reared individually, and 78.0% and 9.4 in the mass rearings. Although peach or apple pollen could support normal development of the predator, feeding on these pollens by the F1 generation nymphs resulted in cannibalism, reduced survival and low female rate in the sex ratio.
