Abstract: This paper reports the resistance of diamond back moth(DBM), Plutella xylostela , to Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt)in Southern China. The resistance of DBM to B t in Shenzhen,Guangzhou and some other areas of Southern China was found to be 1 0 25 times(average of 17 times)greater than that of the DBM in Yangzhou. The res istance to Bt by a Thailand strain of DBM was 46% greater than that in Southern China. The resistant DBM was subjected to four common stereotypes of Bt,viz.H1,H3 ,H5 and H7.The results of the tests also indicated that the DBM had no cross res istance against Bt and the tested chemical pesticides.Mixed formulation of Bt an d the chemical pesticides gave good control results. This technique has been appl ied in Shenzhen and Guangzhou areas, resulted in 81.5 90.9% mortality of DBM.
