Abstract: To evaluate the suitable conditions for cold storage of Cyrtorhinus lividipennis Reuter, the longevity, survival rate and lethal time (LT50) of adults of C. lividipennis were measured under combinations of food (water, 20% honey, or 20% sucrose) and low temperature (16℃, 13℃, 10℃, or 7℃), with those insects maintained at 26℃ and provided with water as the control. The results showed that C. lividipennis adults lived longer at low temperatures than the control when the insects were all not provided with supplementary nutrients. At the low temperatures, adult longevity, survival rate and lethal time (LT50) were significantly greater in the insects with supplementary nutrients than those with water only. The storage time of females at 13℃ with 20% honey and males at 16℃ with 20% honey surviving more than 80% were 14 and 12 days, respectively. The results indicate that low temperature and supplementary nutrient can prolong the storage of C. lividipennis adults, the optimal conditions being 13℃ or 16℃ with 20% honey.
