Abstract: As a core component of the integrated pest management system, biopesticides are of great significance in addressing agricultural ecological challenges and achieving sustainable agricultural development. The management of biopesticides in China has evolved from scratch and gradually become standardized, with a relatively complete registration management system and experimental evaluation system established for biochemical pesticides, microbial pesticides and botanical pesticides. There has been a significant increase in the number of registered active ingredients and products. The number of registered bio-pesticide active ingredients has reached 179, accounting for 22% of all pesticide active ingredients. China’s production and R&D capacity ranks among the world’s top, and product quality has been greatly improved. Meanwhile, the application area and coverage rate of green pest control have expanded remarkably, and breakthroughs have been made in the formulation of international biopesticide standards. The development of biopesticides epitomizes the green transformation of China’s agriculture. Establishing a scientific and forward-looking management system and promoting the leap of the biopesticide industry from weakness to strength will make greater contributions to ensuring food security and advancing the green and sustainable development of agriculture.
