Research Advances in Fabclavine and Zeamine, Non-Ribosomal Peptide-Polyketide-Polyamine Natural Products

Abstract: Non-ribosomal peptide-polyketide-polyamine (NRPs-PKs-PAs) natural products are a class of structurally distinctive compounds that demonstrate potent inhibitory effects against plant pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and nematodes. Due to their broad-spectrum biological activity, these compounds show great promise for the control of plant diseases, making them promising candidates for the development of new biopesticides. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the research advancements in the biosynthetic and regulatory mechanisms, structural diversity and biological activities, as well as the development of high-yield engineered strains of non-ribosomal peptide-polyketide-polyamine natural products, specifically Fabclavine and Zeamine, while also offering perspectives on future research directions.
