Abstract: The effect of Purpureocillium lilacinus PL36-1 on gray mold of post-harvest tomato fruits was evaluated. The results showed that the fermentation filtrate of strain PL36-1 inhibited mycelial growth of Botrytis cinerea, as well as conidial germination and elongation of germ tubes. Mycelial growth of B. cinerea decreased by 74.45% when it was dual cultured with the strain PL36-1 in petri dish. The VOCs from PL36-1 also suppressed the mycelial growth of B. cinerea. The PL36-1 could control post-harvest tomato fruits gray mold effectively, the incidence of the disease fell by 70.64% after 10 days treated by PL36-1 fermentation broth with 2×108 spores/mL. It was suggested that P. lilacinus was potential to be used as a biocontrol agent in management of post-harvest tomato fruits gray mold.
