Abstract: The life cycle of Actinote anteas is completed in 92-102d at 26℃ and 80% RH. The eggs are laid on batches of Mikania micrantha. The incubation of the eggs takes 10-15d. The caterpillars are very gregarious until the fourth instar. Pupation takes about 11d. Adults are large colourful brownish orange-yellow with black spots butterflies. Host range tests with 86 plant species from 42 families showed A. anteas only completed its life cycle on Chromolaena odorata and Mikania micrantha.
