Abstract: The effects and reasonable density of a dispenser containing 270 mg of sex pheromone for mating disruption control of Grapholitha molesta (Busck) in mono- and mix-cultured pear orchards were tested using the densities of 600, 900 and 1200 dispensers per hectare in Yuncheng, Shanxi Province from 2012 to 2014. The rates of mating disruption increased with increasing seasons and density. With three years' application, the rates of infested fruits in both the mono- and mix-cultured pear orchards were significantly lower than that in the untreated orchards. The control efficacies of the sex pheromone dispenser in the mono-cultured orchards were 80.0%, 90.0%, and 92.9% for the three years, respectively. In contrast, they were 69.2%, 84.6%, and 84.6% in the mix-cultured orchards, respectively. Considering control efficacy and cost, we recommend to apply the dispenser at 900 and 1200 per hectare for more than three successive years in large-scale mono- and mix-cultured pear orchards, respectively.
