The Report of Chelonus munakatae Parasitizing Fall Armworm Spodoptera Frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in Hainan, China

Abstract: After the invasion of China, the fall armyworm spread rapidly, and the discovery and use of native enemies carries substantial weight to control its outbreak effectively. From April to July 2019, our research group conducted a survey on the occurrence of fall armyworm in Hainan province, and found the egg parasitic wasp of the fall armyworm population outside the corn field for the first time. The morphological characteristics of the egg parasitoid wasps were identified by morphological methods, and it was determined to be Chelonus munakatae Munakata, and the experimental population was established, which laid a foundation for artificial propagation and field application.
