Abstract: Ten strains of endophytic Chaetomium spp. isolated from spruce needles were identified as C. funicola, C. indicum, C. globosum and C. subaffine based on their morphological and molecular characteristics. C-45 and C-44 belonging to C. funicola and C. subaffine, respectively, showed strong antagonism against nine common forest pathogenic fungi. Investigation on mechanisms showed that strain C-45 and C-44 might suppress the pathogens with multiple ways.
