Population Dynamics of Trichagalma acutissimae (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) and Its Natural Enemy Torymus sp. (Hymenoptera: Torymidae)

Abstract: Trichagalma acutissimae (Monzen) (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) is a major pest of Quercus variabilis Blume in the Taihang Mountains in China. Torymus sp. is a parasitoid of T. acutissimae. Population dynamics of T. cutissimae and the parasitoid was surveyed for purpose of outbreak early warning and integrated pest management. There were annually two peaks of T. cutissimae adult population and parasitic rate, the first in mid-May and the second in late July. Form 2011 to 2015, the number of galls of asexual generations of T. cutissimae was 826.0, 816.4, 61.8, 11.0 and 3.4 per 3 leaves per year, the number of parasitoid adults was 39.00, 46.33, 19.30, 13.33 and 8.30 each sticky board per year, and total parasitic rate was 39.7%, 51.0%, 61.1%, 54.9% and 29.5%, respectively.
