Abstract: Accompanying migration by natural enemies with their host insects is of important ecological and behavioral significance. Cyrtorhinus lividipennis (Reuter) preys on the eggs and early instar nymphs of Nilaparvata lugens (Stål). Elucidation of migrating habit of C. lividipennis and accompanying migration with N. lugens will provide key guidance for the integrated control of N. lugens. From 2008 to 2012, a long-term monitoring of seasonal population dynamic of C. lividipennis and N. lugens was conducted with a searchlight trap and a Jiaduo light trap in Xing'an County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Results showed that initial migration period of C. lividipennis obtained by both light traps was after that of N. lugens, the peak period of trapped C. lividipennis was from the late July to late August and there were more females in C. lividipennis catches. Population size of both insects were significantly positively correlated, N. lugens could be controlled by the predator when the population ratio between C. lividipennis and N. lugens reached or more than 1:1.1.
