Abstract: Functional response and searching rate of Orius sauteri 4—5th instar to Aphis glycines were studied. The functional response could be described by Holling II at all tested temperatures. At a certain temperature, predation capacity of O. sauteri 4—5th instar increased while searching rate decreased with the increase in density of A. glycines. Predation capacity of O. sauteri 4—5th instar increased with the increase of temperature from 18 to 26 ℃ and then decreased from 26 to 34 ℃. At a certain prey density, predation capacity and predation ratio of O. sauteri 4—5th instar decreased with the increase in its own density. The relationship between predation ratio (E) and density of O. sauteri 4—5th instar (P) was described by equation of E=0.1249P-0.1776, and the relationship between intensity of scrambling competition (I) and the density of O. sauteri adults (P) was I=0. 3526 logP+0.0152.
