Abstract: Neoseiulus cucumeris (Oudemans) is widely used as a biological control agent for some insect pests. The effects of temperature on the fertility and the expression of Na+/K+-ATPase α subunit based on the clone of Na+/K+-ATPase α subunit gene of female adults were assessed in the present paper. The results show that 25℃ is the optimal temperature for female fertility among a temperature series of 15, 20, 25 and 30℃. Expression of Na+/K+-ATPase α subunit gene increased significantly in females stressed at 15 and 30℃ for 48 h, indicating that energy metabolism in stressed females was more active than in females at optimal temperature. The results suggest that females would spend less energy for fertility if they were stressed with high or low temperature.
