Abstract: The mummification rate of an indigenous natural enemy, Aphidius gifuensis Ashmead on different hosts were investigated. The tested hosts included Aphis glycines, A. gossypii, Brevicoryne brassicae, Lipaphis erysimi, Myzus persicae, Rhopalosiphum padi and Schizaphis graminum. Emergence rate, developmental period, offspring female proportion and body size of A. gifuensis were compared between different hosts. The mummification rate reared on R. padi and A. gossypii were very low. M. persicae and S. graminum were promising hosts, with mummification rate of 53.13% and 51.83%. The emergence rate, female development period and offspring female proportion in A. gifuensis reared on S. graminum were 90.34%, 11.47 d and 61.08%, respectively, which were not significantly different from those of A. gifuensis offspring reared on M. persicae. A. gifuensis reared on S. graminum showed successful parasitic performance on M. persicae. These results indicate that S. graminum could be a promising host for mass rearing and application of A. gifuensis.
