Abstract: The developmental fitness and biocontrol potential of Encarsia sophia reared on Aleurodecus dispersus were measured, including the body size, developmental duration, emergence rate, longevity, and the control of Bemisia tabaci, with the wasps reared on Trialeurodes vaporariorum and B. tabaci as CK. The results showed larger body size, higher emergence rate, and shorter developmental duration (13.0 days) of the E. sophia females reared on A. dispersus than those reared on the other two hosts. The E. sophia females reared on A. disperses parasitized more B. tabaci nymphs (18.0 per day) than those females reared on T. vaporariorum and B. tabaci (13.5 and 12.0 per day, respectively). In addition, the longevity of the E. sophia females reared on A. disperses (9.0 days, at 32 ℃) was significantly greater than that of the E. sophia females reared on T. vaporariorum and B. tabaci (6.0 days and 7.0 days, respectively). The results are helpful for the efficient reproduction and application of E. sophia in the management of B. tabaci.
