Abstract: A strain of entomopathogenic fungi (FZ-01) isolated from Bemisia tabaci was identified morphologically and using molecular method employing rDNA-ITS gene sequences. The biocontrol potential of the strain was also evaluated. The strain FZ-01 was identified as Isaria fumosorosea, growing well on the potato medium (PDA), showing wide adaptability to temperatures (above 35℃) and pH values (pH 4-10), and with fast spore germination speed (5 h) and high spore germination rate (>90%). Under laboratory conditions, the virulence test showed that the strain at conidium concentration of 1.0×107cfu/mL was characterized by the medium lethal time (LT50) of 2.75 d and the medium lethal concentration (LC50) of 2.69×104cfu/mL at 4 d after inoculation. The results indicate that the strain FZ-01 possesses promising biocontrol potential against B. tabaci.
