Toxicity of Twenty Chinese Medicinal Herbs against the Two-Spotted Spider Mite (Tetranychus urticae Koch)

20种中草药对二斑叶螨的毒性研究

摘要: Toxicity of methanol extracts of 20 traditional Chinese medicinal (TCM) herbs to female adults and eggs of Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae) were evaluated using the methods recommended by FAO. Bioassay showed that some of the extracts were toxic to adult mites and eggs, and toxicity varied with herb species. Extracts of Asarum heterotropoides var. mandshuricum Maxim, Coptis chinensis Franch, Melia toosendan Sieb. et Zucc, Areca catechu L. and Sophora flavescens Ait possessed excellent efficacy toward both female adults and eggs, with 100% mortality of female adults at the concentration of 10 mg·mL-1 after 72 h, and less than 40% egg hatching at 10 mg·mL-1 after 5 d. A. heterotropoides var. mandshuricum showed superiority, LC50 values for female adults (1 d) and eggs (5 d) were 0.57 mg·mL-1 and 0.88 mg·mL-1 respectively. The results indicated that some TCM herbs, especially A. heterotropoides, C. chinensis and A. catechu show potential in the development of botanical acaricide.

Abstract:

本文采用联合国粮农组织(FAO)推荐方法研究了20 种中草药提取物对二斑叶螨Tethranychus urticae Koch 雌成螨与卵的毒性。研究结果表明大部分中草药提取物对雌成螨和卵显示出程度不等的毒性作用。其中北细辛Asarum heterotropoides var. mandshuricum (Maxim.) Kitag、黄连Coptis chinensis Franch、苦楝子Melia toosendan Sieb. et Zucc、槟榔Areca catechu L.与苦参Sophora flavescens Ait.对雌成螨和卵均表现出很强的毒性作用,在提取物浓度为10 mg·mL-1、作用72 h 后,雌成螨死亡率为100%;在提取物浓度为10 mg·mL-1,作用5 d 后,卵孵化率小于40%。北细辛表现最为突出,对成螨与卵的LD50 分别为0.57 mg·mL-1 (1 d)和0.88 mg·mL-1 (5 d)。结果显示,北细辛、黄连与槟榔等中草药具有研究开发为植物源杀螨剂的潜力。
