Abstract: Eugenol, a new botanical virucide and eugenol microcapsule, was prepared with double emulsion encapsulation to promote application of eugenol. The optimal conditions for prepared eugenol microcapsules were 3.0% (w/v) alginate, 3.0% (w/v) emulgator, 3.0×103 r/min colostrum stirring speed, 1.5×103 r/min double emulsion stirring speed. The results of prepared eugenol microcapsules were smooth surface, spherical, average of 5 μm particle size and 84.6% encapsulation efficiency. According to the indicator of maximum residue limits for pesticides in food of National Standards, we established a high-security application technology to control Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYCLV) disease in North Jiangsu: eugenol microcapsules 60 g/hm2 was used five times in the whole growth period of tomato, 40% acetamiprid WDG and 5% procymidone·20% thiram mixture WP 300 g/hm2 were used three and two times before fruiting stage, respectively, and the control efficiency was more than 70%. The maximum residue limits for pesticides in tomato fruits met China and exported to Japan, European Union standards.
