Abstract: The study aims at clarifying the effects of LED light of different wavelengths on the development and reproduction of Trichogramma japonicum. The number of eggs laid per female in the parental and offspring generation, longevity, developmental duration and sex ratio of offspring of T. japonicum under six different LED lights (purple, 400 nm; blue, 450 nm; green, 530 nm; yellow, 580 nm; red, 630 nm; white, 6000 k) were observed and recorded. The results showed that there were significant differences in all the life-table parameters. The yellow LED light significantly restrained parasitic behaviors, but prolonged the longevity of parasitoids. The developmental duration was about 235 hours under red light. The red light obviously prolonged the duration of development and inhibited mass rearing efficiency. Besides, the number of male offspring increased under blue light, and is adverse for mass rearing and field application. In conclusion, the LED light at different wavelengths may exert negative effects on the development and reproduction of T. japonicum. In mass rearing, the light of inhibitory effects, such as yellow light or blue light, should be avoided. These results provide an important theoretical basis for further study of the environmental adaptability of T. japonicum and improvement of its mass rearing efficiency in a biological control program.
