Abstract: In the present study, we investigated the toxicity of cyflumetofen, a new type of miticide, on Phytoseiulus persimilis, an important natural enemy of spider mites, the impact of cyflumetofen on reproduction of P. persimilis, and the potential of integrating the miticide and the predator in strawberry spider mite control. Our results showed that cyflumetofen is low toxic to P. persimilis, with<35% mortality observed at the highest tested concentration (400 mg/L) and LC50 to female and male adults of 669.4mg/L and 456.4 g/L, respectively. No significant impact of cyflumetofen on 7-day fecundity of P. persimilis was observed. In the field experiment, control efficiency of spider mites maintained at ≥ 90% for two weeks in the treatments with P. persimilis release alone or integrated application of the predators and the miticide. Integrated application showed higher potential than use the miticide alone, with >95% control efficiency at 28 days after application. Integrated application of the predator and the miticide can be recommended for spider mite management in greenhouse strawberries.
