Abstract: Under low humidity stress, entomopathogenic nematodes exhibit resistance characteristics, which directly affect and determines the adaptability of entomopathogenic nematodes to stress and the control efficiency of insect pests. Steinernema kraussei 0657L and Heterorhabditis brevicaudis 0641TY were used in this study to elucidate the behavioral responses of entomopathogenic nematodes to low humidity stress. The behavior characteristics of these two nematode species in low humidity environment of 30% RH were observed and their avoidance strategies were analyzed. The results revealed that S. kraussei 0657L showed dry escape, while H. brevicaudis 0641TY showed low moisture dormancy. S. kraussei 0657L showed a strong ability to leave stress, while H. brevicaudis 0641TY showed a strong ability to form a group. Environmental factors might disturb the stress avoiding behaviors in the two nematode species, but their avoidance strategy did not change. In the low-humidity environment with water or insect body fluid, the migration ability of S. kraussei 0657L decreased, while the migration ability of H. brevicaudis 0641TY was enhanced and the group holding ability decreased.
