Abstract: In agricultural and forestry production, chemical pesticides have become one of the constraints against biological control. To coordinate chemical control with biological control,it is important to evaluate the effects of pesticides on natural enemy insects.Harmonia axyridis is one of the widespread predators widely used in agricultural production in China. To ensure the safety and the continuous control effect of H.axyridis during its application, this paper evaluated the reproductive toxicity of mancozeb to H.axyridis female adults by aphid feeding method. The ovary development degree and the relative expression of Vgs were investigated in the female predators fed with mancozeb. The results showed that the ovarian development was inhibited in the H.axyridis female adults, irrespective of the developmental stages when mancozeb was ingested. The main symptoms included decreases in follicle length, ovarian development index and the relative expression of Vg1 and Vg2.Consuming mancozeb since the larvae stage was more detrimental to the ovarian development compared to consuming since the adult stage. However, mancozeb treatment resulted in no abnormal ovary. Therefore, mancozeb probably has a weak reproductive toxicity effect on H.axyridis.The results can help improve the compatibility of mancozeb and predator and the efficiency of application of mancozeb and predator.
