Abstract: Strain C1B1 is an endophytic bacterial strain of industrial hemp obtained earlier. Morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics of the strains and 16S rRNA and gyrA gene sequences were analyzed to clarify the taxonomic status of the strains. The antagonistic and growth-promoting properties were assessed by plate standoff method, potting and growth-promoting experiments. The results showed that strain C1B1 belongs to Bacillus velezensis, and could inhibit pepper southern blight (Sclerotium rolfsii) with the efficacy up to 87.22% in the plate, and the potting efficacy of the strain was 44.4%. Meanwhile, this strain had good inhibitory effect on seven kinds of plant pathogens such as grapefruit anthracnose Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, lucerne wilt Fusarium oxysporum, etc. The germination rate of pepper seeds increased by 20.1% and 22.3% after treatment with C1B1 fermentation broth and aseptic supernatant, respectively. The plant height and stem thickness of pepper plants increased by 22.6% and 29.1%, 15.7% and 18.1%, respectively. In conclusion, strain C1B1 has a good antagonistic effect against white silk disease and other pathogens of chili pepper, and has a growth-promoting effect on chili pepper crops, which has a good potential for biocontrol application.
