Abstract: In order to screen high-efficiency biocontrol bacteria against blueberry root cancer, a biocontrol bacterium R16 with significant antagonistic effect on Agrobacteriuum tumefaciens was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of blueberry plant. The strain was identified as Lysobacter antibioticus by morphology and molecular biology analysis. Plate antagonism test showed that the strain R16 had a significant antagonistic effect on A. tumefaciens with the inhibition zone diameter of 20.00 mm. In greenhouse experiments, control efficacy on A. tumefaciens was 77.50% and 82.46% by needle inoculation and root irrigation, respectively. Field trials showed that the strain had control efficacy more than 55% on blueberry root cancer, and could significantly reduce the disease index. This is the first report of L. antibiotic with significant control effect on blueberry root cancer disease. This strain can effectively inhibit the growth of A. tumefaciens and its tumorigenic reaction, which provide new resources for the green biological prevention and control of blueberry root cancer disease.
