Abstract: Plant viral diseases pose a significant threat to global agricultural production. Driven by the principles of green prevention and control, the utilization of microbial resources for managing plant viral disease has emerged as a prominent research focus. To date, substantial progress has been made in both the mechanistic understanding and practical applications of functional microbial strains, microbial-derived active metabolites, and synthetic microbial communities. This review systematically summarizes the diversity of microbial taxa exhibiting antiviral activity and the progress in the discovery and application of bioactive compounds. We further elucidate the underlying antiviral mechanisms mediated by these microbes, and analyze the technical bottlenecks and challenges currently faced in their practical limitations. These advances not only provide a theoretical foundation for the targeted design and engineering development of novel antiviral biocontrol agents, but also contribute to the construction and innovative of the green prevention and control systems for plant viral diseases.

Key words: plant viral disease, microbial resources, antiviral mechanism, biological control, green prevention and control
