Abstract: Recently, rice false smut (RFS) has emerged as a main fungal disease affecting rice. It not only impacts the crop yield and quality but also produces toxins that pose a serious threat to food safety. The judicious blending of botanical fungicides can enhance their efficacy and effectively mitigate the development of fungicide resistance. In our study, single-agent antibacterial tests showed that the EC50 value for chelerythrine was 1.17 μg/mL, while 9.28 μg/mL for osthole. When combined at a mass ratio of 6:4, the mixture exhibited an 81.86% inhibition rate at 7 μg/mL, with an EC50 value of 0.02 μg/mL and a synergistic ratio (SR) of 100.49. The selected formulation of chelerythrine mixed with osthole met the quality control standards, exhibiting a generally concentrated particle size distribution (D90=9.683 μm) and dispersing evenly in water. The formulation of chelerythrine mixed with osthole in a suspension preparation demonstrated good biological control effect against RFS, with efficacy of 76.36% at a 100-fold dilution Due to their environmental friendliness, high efficacy, low risk of pathogen resistance and safety to human and livestock, the botanical fungicides have the great potential for further development and application.
