Development of Pseudomonas protegens ZF509-Based Wettable Powder Formulation and Its Efficacy in Controlling Bacterial blotch of fruit in Melons

Abstract: To develop a highly effective biocontrol agent against bacterial fruit blotch(BFB), this study screened a wettable powder formulation with optimal biocompatibility and quality parameters for Pseudomonas protegens ZF509 and evaluated its protective efficacy in potted plants. The optimized formulation comprised: 90.5% ZF509 fermentation broth, 5% precipitated silica carrier, 1% Morwet IP wetting agent, 1% sodium lignosulfonate dispersant, and 5% food-grade wheat starch protectant. The resulting formulation achieved a viable cell count of 3.8×109 cfu/g, and the quality indicators met the national standards. By adding food-grade wheat starch protectant, the heat resistance of the active ingredient was improved, and the survival rate of ZF509 was above 80% at 37 ℃. The pot experiment showed that the 1000-fold dilution of P. protegens ZF509 wettable powder could effectively control bacterial fruit blotch on melons, with a control efficacy of 49.52%, which was better than the control agent thiazole zinc. This study laid a technical foundation for the research and development and application of P. protegens ZF509 wettable powder.
