Synergistic Effect of Mixed Use of Beauveria bassiana and Matrine on Spodoptera bilinealis

Abstract: This paper measured the insecticidal activity of Beauveria bassiana HB-P-04 combined with low-dose matrine against Spodoptera bilinealis, and the synergistic effect between B. bassiana and matrine in different use orders and time intervals. The results showed that low dose matrine had little effect on spore germination, mycelial growth and sporulation of strain HB-P-04, indicating that matrine is compatible with HB-P-04. When B. bassiana was mixed with matrine at a volume ratio of 1:4, the co-toxicity coefficient was the highest, reaching 223.48, showing significant synergistic effect. When B. bassiana was applied first and matrine was applied at 24 h interval, the treatment showed obvious synergistic effect, with a corrected mortality rate of 92.86% at 9 d post treatment. In the laboratory toxicity test, both the mixture of B. bassiana and matrine at a volume ratio of 1:4 and the treatment of B. bassiana firt and then matrine at 24 h interval effectively shortened the insecticidal time and improved the insecticidal efficiency.
