Development of Biocontrol Bacterial Synthetic Community Effervescent Granules and Their Control of Pepper Blight

Abstract: This study aims to develop a synthetic microbial community(SynCom) based on six biocontrol bacteria and its effervescent granule(EG) formulation for the green control of pepper blight. A single-factor experiment identified bentonite as the optimal carrier. Subsequently, the Box-Behnken response surface method was used to optimize the preparation process, resulting in the best parameters for producing SynCom EG: 15 g of bentonite adsorbed at 37 ℃, with agitation at 236 rpm for 153 min, followed by drying at 24 ℃. The resulting granules had a disintegration time of 52 s and an active bacterial count of 2×107 CFU/g. After six months of storage at room temperature, the survival rate was 63.5%. Pot experiments demonstrated that these granules significantly promoted pepper growth and exhibited a 73.7% control efficiency against pepper blight. These findings provide an innovative biocontrol technology for sustainable pepper production.
