Abstract: Phylogenetic and polymorphism analysis based on ITS-5.8S rDNA sequences of different Isaria fumosorosea strains and related species from all over the world were studied. The phylogenetic analysis showed that I. fumosorosea strains were separated into two completely separated Clades, one was clustered into Clade Ⅰ-1 with 94% bootstrap value, the other was into CladeⅡ-1 with 90% bootstrap value. For determining the true taxonomic status of both Clades, polymorphism of I. fumosorosea strains and I. javanica strains were analyzed. The results revealed that there were eight haplotypes, with monophyletic diversity Hd=0.65, nucleotide diversity Pi=0.04 and two different conserved DNA regions. In conclusion, there is large genetic diversity at the species level or assumed populations among I. fumosorosea, indicating that the differences are beyond species boundaries of I. fumosorosea, the strains in CladeⅠ-1 is true I. fumosorosea, and those in CladeⅡ-1 might be I. javanica.
