Abstract: The Asian corn borer (ACB), Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenée) is the main insect pest of corn in Dehong prefecture of Yunnan Province. Control effects on the pest by releasing Trichogramma ostriniae Pang et Chen were evaluated in corn fields of Mengdian Village, Mengnong Township and Menga Village, Sudian Township in Yingjiang County, Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province. ACB egg masses were parasitized by 74.27% and 76.30%, infested plants decreased by 62.28% and 66.50%, number of larvae and pupae per 100 plants reduced by 71.76% and 76.74%, and wormholes reduced by 63.83% and 75.24%, the average control efficacy was 65.96% and 72.82%, respectively. The corn yield loss was reduced by 7.79%, equaling a reduction of economic loss of 420.06 Yuan per hm2 and achieving an input-output ratio of 1:1.47.
