Abstract: Composting is a common process for the recycle of agricultural organic solid waste, and its products contain abundant nutrients and microbial cells, which can promote crop growth and suppress disease. Further aerobic or anaerobic fermentation of mature compost in water can increase the functional substances of nutrients and promote and the reproduction of the beneficial microbial community in its exudate. The improved compost tea can directly provide nutrients for crop growth and promote the ability of crops to resist the diseases. As a kind of liquid biocontrol-products, compost tea can be used as biological pesticides or fertilizers by drip irrigation or foliage spray. This paper summarizes the production process, application strategies of compost tea and its main functions and mechanisms in plant health, which will provide theoretical basis for the further research on application technology.

Key words: compost tea, biological control, influence factor, mechanism of disease suppression, liquid biocontrol product
