Abstract: Fopius vandenboschi (Fullaway) is an important parasitic wasp of Bactrocera dorsalis and several other tephritid pests. To meet the large demand of biocontrol agents for biological control program, it is necessary to store F. vandenboschi at low temperatures. In this study, we determined the impacts of cold temperature and storage duration on the emergence parameters of F. vandenboschi pupae at different ages. Then, four optimum pupal storage protocols were developed and evaluated for their impacts on the biological characteristics of post-storage adults. Our results showed that temperature, storage duration, pupal age and their interactions all significantly affected the emergence rate of F. vandenboschi. Emergence rate was not negatively affected only when 9-day old pupae were stored at 13 ℃ for 10 d or 15 d, which were 73.10% and 68.31%, respectively. The two cold storage protocols showed no negative effects on the dry weight, flight capacity, longevity, fecundity and life table parameters of post-storage adults. This study serves as a reference for optimizing the cold storage technique of F. vandenboschi.
