Abstract: Synthetic method of the oriental fruit moth's sex pheromone was studied to provide mating disruption reagent for field application. The mating disruption reagent includes Z-8-dodecenyl acetate, E-8-dodecenyl acetate and Z-8-dodecenol. Using the cheap industrial materials 1,8-octanediol and butyraldehyde as starting materials and dimethyl sulfoxide as reacting solvent, and through controls the reaction conditions of synthetic reaction, the synthesis yield reached 42.5%. The ratio of Z/E was 94﹕6. The synthesized sex pheromone was tested in a field mating disruption for control of oriental fruit mothby using two types of synthetic sex pheromone products (crude products and purified products) in peach orchards in Taigu County, Shanxi in April 2014. The tests showed good control efficiency against Grapholitha molesta (Busck).
