Abstract: Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) has become the most widely used type of microbial pesticide. This review summarized the registration and safety evaluation of Bt products in China and the United States, and analyzed the risk evaluation of Bt products. Bt strains are not known pathogens of humans or other mammals, and non-toxic, infectious and pathogenic to mammals, poultry, etc.; their populations gradually decreased in the environment, and there is no residual risk; it has no significant impact on the survival and reproduction of non-target insects and the structure of soil microbial community.

Key words: Bacillus thuringiensis, microbial pesticide, registration, safety assessment
