Abstract: The larvae of Pachynematus itoi Okutani (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) feed on pine needles of Larix spp., causing outbreaks in northeast China. Biological control of P. itoi has the advantages of high control efficiency, low control cost and long persistence. Egg parasitoid wasps can help decrease pest population during the egg stage, thus reducing larval damage to larch. In July 2018 and August 2019, 99 wasps (52 females and 47 males) of the egg parasitoid, Neochrysocharis aratus (Walker) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), were collected in Changchun, Jilin. This was the first discovery of the parasitoid wasp in China, and the first report of its parasitism against on P. itoi. This study provided a detailed description of its morphological features, with color pictures of overall view and local view of the adult wasps as well as an introduction to the hosts and world distribution of the wasp species. This study may help the biological control of P. itoi.
