Abstract: Transgenic breeding, as a contemporary biotechnology approach, holds significant potential for application in agricultural sector. To ensure ecological safety, genetically modified crops must undergo rigorous ecological risk assessments prior to large-scale commercial release. Targeting at the transgenic glyphosate-resistant maize Tkang-4 transferred with 2mG2-EPSPS gene, acceptor material 18599, and conventional varieties Chengdan 30, this study investigated the impact of transgenic maize Tkang-4 on the biodiversity of arthropods, the major diseases and weeds in the field. The results showed that, compared with the fields of 18599 and Chandan 30, the transgenic variety fields harbored no significant differences in diversity index, dominance concentration, and evenness index of the field arthropod community. And no significant differences in the damage and occurrence of major lepidopteran pests were observed between the treatments, suggesting that the maize Tkang-4 has no significant effects on the field arthropod community structure and population dynamics of dominant species in the short term. Furthermore, no significant differences were observed in the occurrence of major diseases and weeds in the Tkang-4 fields compared to the fields of 18599 and Chandan 30, indicating that, in the short term, the transgenic maize Tkang-4 has no significant impact on the biodiversity in the field. Additionally, we found that spraying glyphosate controlled the occurrence of weeds in the field.
