Abstract: Damage of root maggots in the fields of Atractulodes chinensis in Shenze Country,Hebei Province were investigated using a five-point sampling method and the species of root maggots were identified by mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (mtCOI) molecular marker and morphological characteristics of the adult. At the same time,Bacillus thuringiensis JQD117 aqueous solution was tested for control of the root maggots in A.chinensis field. The results showed that the damage rate of A.chinensis by root maggots in Shenze Country was 2.0%—25.0%,the death rate was as high as 10%,and the average number of insects per plant was 27.4.The mtCOI gene sequences of A.chinensis root maggots were 100% consistent with that of Bradysia odoriphaga, and the morphological characteristics of A.chinensis root maggot’s adult were basically the same as those of B.odoriphaga, which indicates that A.chinensis root maggots are B.odoriphaga.The control of B.thuringiensis JQD117 aqueous solution 8000 mL/mu against the A.chinensis root maggots in the field was 70.72% and the undamaged plants accounted for 79.21%.This study has clarified the species and damage of root maggots in A.chinensis in Shenze Country, and the field control efficacy of B.thuringiensis JQD117,which is of significance for the green control of the root maggots of A.chinensis in the future.
