Abstract: By use of measuring the growth rate of fungal mycelium, many plant pathogens were antagonistically tested with a peptaibols, a secondary metabolite produced by the strain TR673 of Trichoderma citrinoviride during liquid fermentation process. The results showed that this peptaibols can strongly prevent the growth of Colletotrichum gloeosporioide, a causal pathogen of strawberry anthracnose. The values of its EC50 and EC90 were 1.4795 mg/L and 22.1937mg/L, respectively. A formulation of 12% peptaibols wettable powder (WP) was made from the crude extractings and used to conduct an efficacy test on preventing the disease of strawberry anthracnose in Qingpu and Jinshan areas of Shanghai. When the application rate of 12% peptaibols WP was ≥ 450 g/hm2, control efficacy of strawberry anthracnose was significantly higher than other treatments including the chemical control of 50% carbendazim WP. A "Safety Evaluation Test" was conducted with 3 application rates (900, 1800, 3600 g/hm2) onto 3 varieties of strawberry. The results indicated that there were no side-effects on growth and chemical toxicity to the strawberries.
