Abstract: A bacterial strain WF-3 isolated from rhizosphere soil of cucumber in a continuous cucumber cropping system, exhibited a high antagonistic effect on cucumber anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum orbiculare. This strain was identified as Bacillus methylotrophicus according to its morphological, physiological and biochemical characterizations and the analysis of 16S rDNA gene sequence. In this paper, we have investigated the control effect of WF-3 against cucumber anthracnose via pot and field experiments. Results showed that in the pot experiment the control effect was 66.48%, while in a two-year field test conducted with the cultures of WF-3, the good control effect of 68.14% and 73.70% was obtained in 2013 and 2014, respectively, which proved that WF-3 can effectively control cucumber anthracnose.
