Abstract: The literatures on biological control of grasshopper and locust were analyzed with bibliometric technology. The analysis found that these papers were mainly published in the past 20 years, the number of cited literature showed uptrend since 21st century and reached 3000 per year, above 50% of relevant literatures came from developed countries, and more than 30% of these literatures came from USA and UK, top 20 countries or authors of publications on biological control of grasshopper and locust mainly grouped in western countries, top 10 Chinese scientific institutions and scientists of publications on biological control of grasshopper and locust mainly grouped in colleges and universities, natural enemy was the subject of the highest frequency cited in top 20 subjects of publications on biological control of grasshopper and locust, parasitic enemies accounted for 2/3 of relevant literature, the literature from USA, UK and Canada covered all of the field relate to biological control of grasshopper and locust, the research on behavior and genome sequencing of grasshopper and locust has developed rapidly in China. Highly cited papers mainly came from those famous integrated journals, including innovational research papers or literature reviews. We could know research frontier, hot topic and tendency relevant to subject and topic development with bibliometric method, clarify the status and tendency, find the focus of biological control of grasshopper and locust. These results will improve the development and application of the technology for biological control of grasshopper and locust, protect ecological environment and treat sustainably grasshopper and locust for the future.
