Abstract: Ginger wilt is a devastating disease caused by the soil-borne bacterial Ralstonia solanacearum. Till now, there is still no bactericides available for effective control of the disease in the field. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi have great potential in promoting crop growth and preventing diseases. In order to explore the biocontrol agents against ginger wilt, four Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi strains were selected to evaluate the ginger growth promotion ability and control efficacy against the ginger wilt through pot culture method, and the dominant strain N62 was identified based on morphological characteristics and 18S rDNA sequence analysis. All the four arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi strains had the ability of promoting ginger growth after inoculation. The control efficacy of N62 against the ginger wilt was found up to 58.6% in the pot culture method, significantly higher than that of other arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi strains. Morphological observation and 18S rDNA sequence alignment analysis results showed that the N62 strain belonged to Claroideoglomus etunicatum. These results indicated that the strain N62 was of development and utilization value for biological control of ginger wilt disease.
